Greg Strain
Senior Pastor and Elder
Greg practised as a doctor before training for Christian ministry. He has been at Spicer Street since 1999 and has been Senior Pastor since 2003. He is married to Harriet and they have four grown up children. He enjoys walking, watching sports, reading and the occasional day fly fishing.
Luke Forty
Assistant Pastor and Elder
Luke began his working life in management consultancy, but left the city to become a church apprentice. He spent three years as Assistant Minister in East London before attending theological college and joining Spicer Street. Luke is married to Ruth and they have four young kids.
Dan Hook
Assistant Pastor (Youth) and Elder
Dan practised as a Chartered Surveyor prior to his theological training and has been on the team since 2001. He is married to Yvonne and they have four children.
Ernest Lam
Associate Pastor (Cantonese Ministry) and Elder
I love reading and playing basketball. My wife, Cynthia, and I have two kids. When I was younger, I studied abroad and got my first degree in Social Science and Policy, along with Political Science, in Sydney. After working for a few years, I went back to school and earned an MA in Journalism from CUHK and a Master of Divinity from the Alliance Bible Seminary in Hong Kong. I then became a pastor at North Point Alliance Church, where I served for over eight years.
Rebecca Broomhead
Women's Worker
Rebecca has worked as a Primary school teacher both in this country and abroad. She works full time amongst the women within Spicer Street Church.
Judith Keane
Youth Worker
Judith studied at Durham University and then stayed for three years after graduating, being trained at a church there and working with students. She now works with youth and children at Spicer Street, including leading Wednesday Club, helping to run the youth groups, and meeting up with some of the teenage girls.
Chris Upton, Amanda Jefferies & Jenny Kwok
Safeguarding Officers
Safeguarding is a priority here. We are committed to creating safer places by following statutory guidelines on good working practice. Chris Upton is our safeguarding lead and Amanda Jefferies and Jenny Kwok are our deputies. A copy of our safeguarding policy is available on request. Chris Upton
Elder
Chris has been coming to Spicer Street since he became a Christian in his early thirties. He is responsible for safeguarding in the church.
David Nicholson
Elder
David has been at Spicer Street since 2001 and an elder since 2018, with specific responsibilities for technology and liaising with the Charity Commission. Married to Coral, they have two grown-up daughters. David is an engineer, working for a large engineering consultancy within their rail group. He loves trains, hill-walking and DIY!
Justin Sleep
Elder
Justin has been at Spicer Street Church since 2006 and an elder since 2014. He is married to Emily and they have three children. He is responsible for leading the music at the church.
Neil Jefferies
Elder
Neil was converted in 1972 while a university student and after serving in other churches he and his wife Amanda came to Spicer Street in 2004. They have two children and four grandchildren. Neil has retired from a career in telecoms and now pursues his interests in biblical languages and DIY.
Steve Hounslow
Elder
Steve has been at Spicer Street since 1994 and an elder since 2009. He is married to Micki with four grown-up children. Steve is a retired chartered designer, interior architect / furniture maker. He has a passion for architecture, the arts, church history and making things.
Stuart Farrell
Elder
Stuart has been at Spicer Street since 2013 and an elder since 2023. He is married to Becky and they have three children. Stuart works in financial services and outside of work enjoys sport and barbecuing.
Kurt Adamson
Elder
Kurt became a Christian in his early thirties and has been at Spicer Street since 2015. He trained as a quantity surveyor and works for a large housing developer. He is married to Rachel and they have three children. He loves walking and watching all sports particularly cricket.
Rick McClure
Elder
Rick grew up at Spicer Street and has been an elder since 2023. He has specific responsibility for finance. He is married to Fee and they have 2 children.
